"Self-made `monster' of eroticism a shy gentleman in disguise"

Nobuyoshi Araki's photographs are often beautiful and sensual, yet at the same time, menacing or even bizarre. His trademark erotic images of naked women, especially women in bondage, are considered pornographic by some.

That's all part of the photographer's self-created reputation as an infamous ladies' man. Yet in ``Arakimentari,'' American director Travis Klose's documentary about the artist, we see another side of the man who's been called a monster: a warm, shy and childlike persona.

Araki is a man who loves people - women and their sexuality in particular. His obsession to record their every moment keeps him clicking his shutter. "I want to photograph every single Japanese in the country if I can,'' he says in the film. Click here for the rest of this article
