The magazine starts with a roundup of interesting fetish news stories from around the UK, mostly of of humourous bent and a couple of mini reviews of fetish orientated books, before we get into the first major piece, an in depth interview with slave David and how his early experiences with the cruelty of girls affected his sexual development. "...what I read of female cruelty and the punishment of men told me that 'something' fundamental that I was seeking was somehow available." Next up is a historical article on female bullfighters, with discussion on the challenges they made to the traditional gender roles, and the prejudice they faced from the macho world of bullfighting. "In the end virtually no matador would appear with her, for fear that he might be outclassed." |
"...difficulty of the erotic versus the pornographic because of the different perceptions of individuals..." is one of the thought provoking comments from China Hamilton, a female erotic photographer who specialises in the depiction of the naked female, in an article in which she epouses her philosophy and aims in her erotic photography. Some more humourous anecdotes from around the world follow and a tongue in cheek story about the new prison governor Pamela Cane (groan) and her assistant Miss Suzanne Thrashbottom (double groan) arriving at Hardbutt Prison (no more) and warder Ernie Strapper (aargh, I can't take it!) getting off on the wrong foot immediately. Next is a somewhat disturbing account from a submissive blind women who gets her kicks by meeting up with brutal strangers for sex, bondage and whipping. "I've also been used in car parks and men's public toilets...in the course of the evening I would be used by seven or eight men." Slave Max then gives his account of how he first met Queen Isis and started down the road to slavery of a divine mistress. "...she pinched my nostrils shut with her toes whilst cramming her other foot into my mouth." A gallery of striking photographs by Peter Grigg of women being crucified and in bondage follow, before another article, this time by Janus, a female to male transvestite and trained therapeutic massuer and her experiences of being a professional dominant, gender identity and the blurring of gender boundaries. "Some people really stimulate me. It's a question of chemistry. If somebody comes in and they really stimulate my imagination, the scene's going to work a lot better." The next article is about one of the few remaining major sexual taboos. I won't go into detail, but it's titled 'Puppy Love' which says it all really. The last major article is an interview with Mistress Chloe, in which she goes into extensive detail of her life as a professional mistress. The remainder of the magazine is taken up with a big classified/personals section and readers letters. I enjoyed reading this magazine, but it isn't for the faint hearted, it doesn't pull it's punches in tackling some of the more controversial aspects of the BDSM scene. Production values are pretty good, though I did notice a couple of minor grammatical errors, and the fact it's 95% black and white doesn't detract from the content. The photographs are generally pretty good as well. There are the usual adverts for premium rate domination lines, but the amount is not excessive. The magazine's official website is no longer available however (www.dominamagazine.com). If I have one criticism it's that the term 'The world of corrective eroticism" is a slight misnomer, as the magazine has a strong UK bias in terms of its content.
