Fashion - Girdle your loins!
From
Aphrodisia UK
What's
happened to the old-fashioned, breath-holding, stomach-flattening,
thigh-shaping girdle? With the 50s look enjoying a new
lease of life, wearing the right underwear to achieve
that svelte movie star silhouette is all-important. Although
girdles are unlikely to make a full-blown comeback, their
influence is still evident today. |

|
| Trying
to emulate the glamour and elegance of the 1950s today
is no easy feat. So, how did the likes of Grace Kelly,
Jane Russell and Lauren Bacall manage to look so effortlessly
sleek all the time? Easy - the good, old-fashioned, breath-holding,
stomach-flattening, thigh-shaping girdle.
Once considered an essential part of any woman's wardrobe,
the girdle formed the blueprint for an abundance of foundation
garments during the 1900s. And, with the development of
new technologies, the demand for the girdle-inspired undergarment
has never waned. Fortunately for today's woman, the tummy-hugging,
thigh-reducing, waist-cinching alternatives are much more
appealing. (Click

Opinion - Some thoughts on Safewords
By
Franklin Veaux
Good
evening, and welcome to the part of our show where we
skewer some sacred cows! Many people will tell you that
using a "safeword" in the context of BDSM is
a good idea. In fact, I'm one of them. |

|
| A
safeword is simply some word which you can use as a code
word to tell your partner to stop if something you're
exploring becomes too intense or crosses a boundary--perhaps
even a boundary you didn't know you have. (Click

Professional
Mistress - More Pain, More Gain
From
The Observer
When
Jane Fairfax lost her job as a successful journalist,
she found she had another skill... as a dominatrix. Here,
she reveals what it feels like to whip, torture and humiliate
total strangers for money. |

|
| Being
a dominatrix is much like being a journalist.
In both professions, you have to be a good listener. You
have to get people's names right. Journalists are supposed
to tell the truth. A dominatrix tells the story her client
would like to hear. (Click

BDSM
Scenarios & Sexual Exploration Ideas
By
Franklin Veaux
Okay,
okay, so, what do you actually DO, anyway? Ah, now that's
the fun part! There
are as many ways to "do" BDSM stuff as there
are people...so really, what you can do is almost limitless.
These are just a few ideas to bring into your sex life. |

|
| This
article is divided into categories, with ideas ranging
from mild to very kinky. The categories: Toys
/ Techniques / Role-Playing Scenarios.
Before we get to the good stuff, though, a few safety
tips are in order. Talk about what's going on with your
partner. You don't necessarily have to tell him or her
exactly what you're planning; in fact, sometimes surprises
are fun. But you don't want to do anything your partner
hates, either. This isn't just for one person's benefit.(Click

Safety - The Medical Realities of Breath Control Play
By
Jay Wiseman, Greenery Press
Hi
folks, As many of you know, the subject of breath control
play pops up here from time to time, and I often participate
in the resultant threads. I notice that I repeatedly tend
to post the same basic information about the physiology
of what's involved, and such "re-inventing the wheel"
is unnecessary. |

|
| I
have therefore been working on a basic "position
paper" of what's involved for some time, and here
it is. Assuming that it's factually accurate (and I cordially
invite _informed_ challenge on this point), this will
become my "boilerplate" statement on the matter..

BDSM Opinion
- BDSM, Folks I can do without
By
Franklin Veaux
CAUTION
: This is a rant. It's based on my own personal experiences
in the BDSM community. Some people may not like the characterizations
in here. You've been warned.
|

|
| I've
been involved in both BDSM and polyamory since long before
I had words to describe eaither (and, for that matter,
since before the word "polyamory" even existed).
I've been part of the organized poly community for quite
a number of years, but generally speaking, I've tended
to avoid the organized BDSM community.
Lately,
I've been spending a lot more time in the BDSM community,
and I'm beginning to remember why it is I've avoided it..

Lifestyle - A couple in love, Top to Bottom
By
John Koopman, SFGate.com
In
a small apartment in Oakland, a man and woman prepare
for a night out. She's in the bathroom, putting on makeup.
He's in the living room, checking the contents of his
bag: floggers, rope, tape, clamps, knife.
They
walk out of the building, he in leather pants and black
tank top, she in miniskirt, calf-high stiletto boots and
see-through top. They're on their way to the city to play.
But first, they have to drop off a movie rental at the
video store. |

|
| They
live together. He's an artist; she works in sales. Life,
most of the time, is quite mundane.
Except
for the nights they go out to play. Then, he ties her
up, whips her and otherwise inflicts pain on her. And
she loves it. (Click

Lifestyle - Using Clothespins in BDSM play
Author
Unknown
Wood
versus plastic
Wooden
clothespins are a bit kinder and have less tendency
to abrade, thus I would suggest starting with them.
Plastic clothespins tend to have much smaller ribbed
gripping surfaces, and a 'feel' much stronger than the
equivalent wooden ones. Extremely small plastic clothespins
are very nasty indeed, and many may be used in the same
area for greater intensity.
|

|
|
Wooden clothespins are available in several qualities,
with the older, thicker ones being a bit better IMHO,
and the thin ones more likely to splinter or have sharp
edges. As one may purchase 50 of these for perhaps $4
American, these rank among least expensive of toys, and
among the most versatile. Almost anything one may do with
fingertip squeezing may be done with clothespins, and
several things that cannot be accomplished with one's
fingers may easily be done with these tiny household beauties.
Of course, this does leave your hands free for other activities....

Lifestyle - Cane Making
Author
Unknown
Soak
the rattan in the bathtub for several hours which will
allow you to straighten it. Cut into lengths. Swing
the cane, using each end to see where the handle should
be. There is definitely a wrong and right end. Usually,
but not always, use the bigger end for the handle.
|

|
|
Sand the end of the cane into a round, and sand the shaft
where the "bumps" are. Varnish the cane. It
should be varnished several times using a marine varnish.
Wrap the handle end with tape, and then leather. Using
double sided tape will help the leather stick in place.
This is where your artistic ability comes in to play.(Click

Lifestyle - Cleaning Leather
By
Fred Norman
Just
as there are all kinds of leather, there are all kinds
of 'cleaning' so what is good for one may not be needed
for another. One leather to be especially careful with
is suede. don't get it wet! It will 'mat' down easily.
There are brass brushes made to bring the nape up, but
it is never quite the same again.
|

|
|
On smooth leather I use Saddle soap for general cleaning.
First I wipe the leather down with a damp cloth. Removing
all loose surface dirt. Then I use a shaving brush to
work up a lather (I prefer the solid saddle soap over
the liquid). I swirl this into the leather, then while
it is still damp, I wipe it off. Repeat, only this time
let it dry all the way. Later brush it off with a shoe
brush. This is good cleaning and conditioning for most
smooth leathers. (Click
