- Alright, so what is BDSM?
By
Franklin Veaux
"BDSM"
is an acronym of "B&D" (Bondage & Discipline),
"D&S" (Dominance & Submission), and "S&M"
(sadomasochism). "BDSM" refers to any or all
of these things, and a lot of stuff besides.
|

|
| Tying
up your lover is BDSM; so is flogging that person, or
bossing that person around, or any of a thousand other
things. BDSM is highly erotic, usually (though not always)
involves sex or sexual tension; and is highly psychologically
charged. One person (the "submissive") agrees
to submit to another person (the "dominant").

Parties - Ten Tips For Novice Dungeon Monitors
Copyright
1998 by Jay Wiseman - Greenery Press
For
many years now, play parties have had special people
fill the role of "dungeon monitors" -- or DMs for short
These people are mainly there to ensure that the party
rules are complied with and to otherwise create a safe
space for the attendees.
|

|
| However,
DMs are also the delegates of the host, and they both
can and should assist the attendees as possible in enjoying
the party. In the past twenty years, I have been a host
or a DM at more than 100 play parties and I have the following
words of basic advice to pass on: (Click

Lifestyle - Safety Tips for your First Meeting
Author
Unknown
The
following is a suggested list of things you should do
before meeting someone face to face for the first time.
Although this has been written with the slave in mind,
it does apply to Masters/Mistresses as well.
|

|
| Every
year hundreds if not thousands of people meet each other
on-line, and later meet face to face. While the majority
of these meetings may safely work out, some don't. Before
you even consider meeting anyone, get to know them on-line
and if you are comfortable with them, via phone calls.
You can offer to call them, and use the 'caller ID blocks'
available. (Consult your phone service provider or phone
book for instructions on how to engage this service.)

Lifestyle - For the Novice Hypnosis Fetishist
By
Inamorata, www.hypnoland.com
You
could find this information in any hypnosis FAQ, right?
Perhaps, perhaps not. Perhaps you didn't take the time
to look. Perhaps you should have. Perhaps you would
have if it were suggested to do so. Perhaps there wasn't
time. Perhaps this is all fantasy to you and you really
could care less. Of the 1% of you for which the "perhaps"
doesn't matter and you are taking the time and it does
matter to you, then you are why am writing this.
|

|
| I
may very well step on some people's toes - be crossing
some imaginary boundary that shouldn't be crossed but
I have come to see too much in my time, hear too much
and am sought after as "damage control" way
more often than I care to admit. But I won't share those
stories with you - another time and another place perhaps...perhaps.

Book Review - Fetish
: Fashion, Sex and Power
Reviewed
by Fetishlink Webmaster
Valerie
Steele takes the point of view of an outsider to the
fetish scene in this comphrehensive guide to fetish
clothing and apparel. She goes into detail on the history
and background to many items with a fetish appeal, including
corsets, underwear, "second skin" fabrics,
shoes and many more. The text is supplemented with many
photos and drawings, from the nineteenth century to
the twenty-first.
|

|
| Some
of the text is pretty heavy on theory, with Steele drawing
on Marxist, feminist and psychoanalytical theory to explore
the role of fetishism through history. The cultural significance
of fetish fashion, how the fetishistic statements of clothing
reflect the originating cultures' ideals is given analysis. Also
how in modern times, the "mainstreaming" of
fetish by modern fashion designers has led to a blurring
of the boundaries between normal and fetish clothes. (Click

Lifestyle - Pole dancing the latest fad
Article
by By Elizabeth Fullerton, l'express.mu
Silver
disco balls spin red lip-shaped lights around the room
and Britney Spears’ “Oops I did it again”
blares as Debbie gives herself a cheeky slap on the
left buttock. In school uniform, suspenders and high
heels, she struts confidently around the pole, hooks
her leg around it and swings to the ground before rippling
back up. Flicking her long hair aside, she pauses to
glance over her shoulder at the audience.
|

|
| But
contrary to appearances, Debbie is no pole pro. She’s
a 42-year-old married banker in London who has just completed
a six-week beginners’ course in pole dancing at
My Pole Dance School in London. She is one of growing numbers
of urban British women – from bankers and accountants
to charity workers and housewives – who are using
poles to get fit and get sexy. (Click

Photographer - The Real Araki
By
Ayako Karino - Asahi.com
Nobuyoshi
Araki's photographs are often beautiful and sensual,
yet at the same time, menacing or even bizarre. His
trademark erotic images of naked women, especially women
in bondage, are considered pornographic by some.
|

|
| That's
all part of the photographer's self-created reputation
as an infamous ladies' man. Yet in ``Arakimentari,'' American
director Travis Klose's documentary about the artist,
we see another side of the man who's been called a monster:
a warm, shy and childlike persona. (Click

Gothic
Club - Visions of the Apocalypse
By
Maureen Callahan, The New York Post
It's
fast becoming one of the most popular parties at the
downtown bar Happy Ending - but at first, manager Bob
Hughes wanted nothing to do with the Visions of the
Apocalypse Goth party.
|

|
| "They
would refer to it as 'the Goth party,' and that would
make me shiver," says Hughes of the party's promoters.
"I would imagine one of our regular customers walking
in and seeing all these kids with dark hair and tailored
jackets and sunken faces going, 'What the hell? What kind
of vision of the apocalypse have I wandered into?'"s.

film - Demonlover
By
Giovanni Fazio, The Japan Times
A
dominatrix working at a Roppongi club (which will remain
unnamed) once told me that many of her clients were
men in executive or managerial jobs. After giving orders
all week, it seemed they were eager to take some discipline
themselves, whether that meant being collared and forced
to bark like a dog, or having a nail driven through
their . . . well, let's just stop there.
|

|
| Anyway,
the parallels between corporate world power struggles
and the psychology of S&M were out there waiting to
be drawn, and Olivier Assayas, with his film "Demonlover,"
has taken a crack at it. Set in a future just slightly
beyond the grasp of the present, "Demonlover"
follows ruthless corporate warriors as they try to secure
the market for Internet S&M porn sites. (Click

Lifestyle - Some Like It Rough
By
Sari Eitches, The Daily Californian
Cal
alum Paul Joannides observes, “The United States
was originally settled by a group of religious outcasts,
malcontents, criminals and slaves—the fact that
we’re not all into some form of bondage is a little
amazing.”
|

|
| But
relax your idea of what constitutes sadomasochistic tendencies.
If you include not just getting whipped by a leather-clad
dominatrix while attempting auto-asphyxiation, but also
giving your partner a little hickey during a make-out
session, this campus is just crawling with sadistic heathens.
Kind of comforting, actually. (Click
